Salads can be fun??

What comes to mind when you hear the word Salad?

For some, you might think “EWW KALE!” or “EWW Boring flavors!”

Others might think “YAY, Vitamins and Nutrients!” or “Bright Colors!”

Well my goal is to get everyone on the same page of thinking that salads can be fun.

You know that meme out there that says “No great story ever started with a salad”?

Yes! this one!

Well I believe salad DOES HAVE the potential to be fun.

And not only can it be fun, but your body will thank you!

So grab a bowl and some lettuce and let me show you some great toppings and salad dressings that’ll be sure to dress up your menu!



Salad Topping Options:

  • Avocado
  • Bacon
  • Onions
  • Walnuts
  • Almonds
  • Dried cranberries
  • Tomatoes
  • Hard boiled eggs
  • Apples
  • Lemons (for juice and brightening freshness)
  • Beets
  • Celery
  • Carrots
  • Radish
  • Cucumber
  • Greek Olives (or any kind of Olive)
  • Mushrooms
  • Broccoli
  • Asparagus
  • Bell Peppers
  • Beans
  • Corn
  • Raspberries
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Grapes
  • Goat cheese
  • Blue cheese
  • Feta cheese
  • Chicken
  • Steak
  • Salmon
  • Shrimp
  • Tofu
  • Tuna

Commonly known lettuce options:

Romaine lettuce, Arugula, Spinach, Iceberg lettuce (which doesn’t have much nutrition because it’s filled with so much water), Butter lettuce, Rainbow Chard,  Radicchio, and Mesclun lettuce.

Healthy Salad Dressing Recipes:

Lemony Salad Dressing:

  • Juice of 2 Lemons
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1/2 tbsp Dijon Mustard
  • 1 Garlic Clove
  • 1/2 cup Olive Oil

– Whisk together, drizzle on salad and enjoy!


Homemade Greek Salad Dressing:

  • 1 tsp Basil
  • 2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 2 tsp Oregano
  • 1 tsp Dijon Mustard
  • Pinch of pepper
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 cup Olive Oil
  • 1/2 cup Red Wine Vinegar

-Whisk together, drizzle on salad, and enjoy


Homemade Healthy Ranch Dressing:

  • 2 tbsp fresh Dill
  • 3 large Cloves of Garlic
  • 1tsp Lemon zest
  • 1/2 cup fresh Parsley
  • 1/4 cup Lemon juice
  • 1 cup Paleo Mayonnaise
  • 1 pinch of black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Sea Salt

-Combine in food processor and blend until smooth consistency.
